Hope in Being Valued

Two years ago I made the decision to leave the paralegal career I once loved to work as an Executive Associate within the very same company I had worked for the last 20 years.

The job? It was a role I knew well…well enough to be certain it was less stressful than my last. More importantly, after teetering on the edge of burn out from being overworked and undervalued, I perceived that I would, indeed, be more valued here.

As I reflect on that decision made two years ago, I realize that though I feel less stressed, I don’t feel any more valued. Often, we find ourselves at a crossroads and elect to keep moving from place to place until we land on an opportunity that we think will solve an underlying issue (in my case, feeling valued).

However, I’ve since discovered a fact: GOD finds me valuable.

Mind you, the fact that HE finds me valuable hasn’t fully resonated in my mind… and that’s okay. The very fact that HE does is enough to make me understand I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be for now…which is the greatest hope of all.

It’s amazing how so many of us need to feel valued, and seek that validation from the recipients of the work we do. Fortunately, for those of us who know God, we eventually realize that God says we are perfectly and wonderfully made, which is the ultimate validation. Never forget whom’s we are 👊🏽
