Representing Hope

As a person of faith, I believe in the truth of the Bible. But belief alone isn’t enough—I’m called to live out that faith. After all, how else will people come to know the Lord? What sets me apart, as a believer, from those who don’t share that belief?

In today’s world, many people sense there’s something more—something better. They’re curious about Christianity, wondering if there’s truth to it. But from their vantage point, they often see Christians who look no different than anyone else. They’ve read stories about Jesus—a kind, compassionate man who genuinely loved people—yet the Christians they encounter don’t reflect that image. In fact, some non-Christians live out the very values Jesus modeled. So what does that mean? Does living like Christ make someone a Christian?

Reflecting on my own life, I recognize moments when I didn’t embody His character. I wore my emotions on my sleeve, and I imagine many people I met had no idea I considered myself a follower of Christ.

Living my hope out loud doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time in His Word—getting to know who He is and understanding His character. And along that journey, something beautiful begins: I undergo a spiritual heart surgery. It’s not me doing the transforming—I’m simply reading His Word, and He does the rest.

So I ask myself: Am I reflecting His character, or am I just another person carrying the Christian label?

At the end of the day, I choose how I represent Him.

The Hope Chronicles

Have you accepted Christ in your life?

Jesus died on the cross to save a sinner like you and me. It’s obvious that He loves us very much. He died and rose again so that we may have eternal life and whosoever believed on Him shall not perish but have eternal life. Would you like that eternal life with Him?

Follow these steps:

1. Repent of all your sins. To repent means to have a remorseful spirit for the things that you have done and are still doing in your life. Ask God to come into your heart and in your life. Admit that you need Him and can not make it without Him in this life.

2. Be Baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (Acts 2:38) To be baptized is to go down unclean in the spirit and rising up again cleansed from sin and unrighteousness.
