I’ll never forget the first time I heard the phrase “get to do.”
I was listening to message about grace while sipping coffee and remember the words booming through my phone:
“AND WE GET TO ENJOY ALL THAT GOD HAS FOR US…”
“Getting to do,” as was explained, puts the focus on participating in all God has for us and through us. It is making ourselves available to be used.
For me, the phrase “get to do” is a positive approach to anything. It suggests an appreciative and humbling posture.
For example, my approach to handling chores could be summed up as “I have to do chores on Saturday.” Phrased in that way, it sounds like dread.
If I were to say, “I get to do chores Saturday,” I sound as though I appreciate the privilege of doing so.
Granted, I may not like the actual act of performing chores but I get the satisfaction of appreciating the opportunity of having a place that looks clean and presentable.
That eye-opener really put me on the path to thinking more positive thoughts in my daily life… and that’s hope.
With hope, there’s always another door opening.
Where there’s hope, there’s a way…
One response to “Finding Hope in the ‘Getting’ to Do”
